Yes, RPM will complain about the missing files if you upgrade the
package, or verify it. It is a trade off - if you use --excludedocs,
you do not get the man pages installed. If you delete the /usr/doc
subdirectories, you get verification errors. One way around it would be
to specify that /usr/doc is a network mounted directory. I have not
played with this, but the way it should work is that rpm will not
install/delete any files from the network directories. This is
something I have to play with, if I can find my notes on it.
