Agreed wrt "hero" status, but I differ from most in that I don't deem them a 
bum in a day. It took me over a decade to dislike Roger. Now I do. But it's 
40yo Roger I don't like, not 30yo Roger. People change.

Of course, they are good guys until the day they aren't. Then they are jerks 
and or bums. 

I am leery of making any athlete a hero. I say we appreciate them for what they 
do on the field and avoid expecting to much from them in the "life lesson" 
department.
