My son learned that at about 5 or 6 years old. I explained it well. He
understood. Like him for his field performance, but that doesn't mean they're a
good or bad person, a nice or mean person, a smart or stupid person. Just means
they can hit, catch, and throw.

Oh, and I'm now really pissed off because my TV jumped itself to the game.
Ahhhhhh, I can't help it. But I am NOT staying up.

Actually, I think it is OK for your kids to pick favorite players. You just
need to help them realize that while it is ok to love them on the field, they
are not always worthy of devotion as you say. It's actually a pretty good life
lesson.

I just want my kid(s) to like baseball. I hope the eldest never picks a
favorite player because none are worthy his devotion.

Can't go wrong with Ellsbury, Pedroia, Bay, Lester. All good
choices. Staying pwer, good reps, good numbers, good guys.
