That's an interesting number, and it seems to be a significant difference (.217 vs. .270). Assuming it's not a small sample size it could suggest something. Perhaps the Sox are becoming predictable.
For example, perhaps the Sox don't swing at early pitches because they like a higher pitch per at bat number. So you throw early strikes and put them in the hole. .217 is eerily like the average we see on an 0-2 count.
