I was thinking about doing it in sections...maybe even take a few peices out
of the tank, just to get some room to move the remaining rock around.
Looks like I'll be doing a little rockscaping this weekend!

How you do that depends on the amount of space you have in your tank.  In
the times I have rearranged the rock in my tank I have done it in sections.
 Move all the corals out of the way, way out of the way so you don't drop
any rocks etc on them.  Take the section of the reef you want to rebuild
out, place somewhere in the tank if you have room, on top of the tank if
there is space, or just on the floor.  It doesn't take that long, and a few
minutes out of the water isn't going to do any undue harm to those
organisms on the rocks.
