I would think it depends on what you want to keep, I have
heard of people using 2 175 watt bulbs or 1 250 watt bulb on a 29 gal. To me
that seems extreme, as far as cost. If I am correct Ron Shimek uses a 175 watt
bulb on his 45, and for the price, a 250 watt bulb would be good too. I have
seen that 250 watt bulbs seem to be cheaper some places than the 175, but more
electric will be used. Only you know what you want to keep and only you can
decide what you want, I am just throwing out some suggestions. SPS corals will
need more lighting and current than the soft corals and LPS corals will. Keep
that in mind.
