All,
I currently have 2 175 watt MHs and 4 VHO bulbs on my 70 gallon tank. I have
2 VHOS in front, then the 2 MHs in the middle then 2 more VHOS in the back.
The 70 gallon tank is 36" long and 24" front to back (pretty cubed, sort of
a strange shape). Right now, my MHS are positioned left to right. Another
words, the light on the right is mounted so that the mogul faces left
middle, and the tip of the bulb faces the right hand side of the tank. The
left is the same, only opposite. The goal behind mounting the bulbs like
this was to have enough light front to back.
My question is, is this the best way to mount the MHS with a tank of this
shape? I have noticed that the light on the sides is not real intense, and I
could fix that by switching the MHs so the face front to back, but am afraid
I will loose intensity front to back. One thing is that I have my LPS in the
front bottom, and they are getting a little too much light, so switching the
bulbs front to back and putting the moguls above the LPS may help with that,
but will I just be pouring light out the sides of the tank??
Thoughts anyone??
TIA
Shane C.
