Shane,

The way you have them now, covering the length of the tank sounds best to 
me.  What type of reflector setup are you using?  Could you use something 
like the spider to help focus/disperse the light with your current setup and 
not get in the way of the VHO's?  I'm using a PFO 24" parallel reflector 
with one MH and two VHO's.  The curve in the reflector does a nice job of 
spreading the MH light over the entire tank.
