True. I got lucky and got my pump used for $50.00. What do you run with the
Mag 12? The reason I ask is because a mag 12 would not run my entire system
like the Iwaki does. It would have taken 2 or 3 mags to do it. For me it was
a cost savings even if I would have bought the Iwaki new, because instead of
3 pumps, I only use the 1. I did try a mag 24 on the system, and it ran my
chiller and 2 other outputs, but could not handle the skimmer and chemical
reactor as well. Keep mind to that my returns are not fully open. I still
have some reserve in the pump, so if I need more flow through the chiller,
reactor or anywhere else in the system, I could open the valves up a bit
more and get more flow from them without effecting any other part of the
system....

Food for thought....

I guess another factor is cost. Aren't Iwaki's quite a bit more
expensive
than a Mag? I have a Mag 12 as my main return on my 125 gallon
reef, and I
love it. It only cost me $89 FWIW
