I think you want to have a tee in your return line with a gate valve so you
can control the flow into the UV. I believe to get the max killing value
from your UV you would like the flow thru the UV to be less.

The flow rate from the output of the pump to the returns should always be
equal.  How could it be any more or less?  It's not possible.  It's a closed
system.  The specs on the 25 Watt Aqua UV say 1000 GPH.  I do not believe
that I am over that with the head pressure and all of the pipe/elbows etc.
