why didnt you kept using the same product if it was working fine??
i would suggest you to keep using the same calcium until you finish the
bottle but if you dont see any improvement switch to your old calcium.

Subject: Yet another calcium problem/question....

All,
I recently began using Tropic Marin calcium (powdered form). When I began
using it, my calcium was at about 420. When I switched over to the TM, my
calcium stayed in that range. I continued to dose my alk buffer at the same
amount (which keeps my alk at 4.6ish (meqs) and pH at about 8.3). Well,
recently, my calcium began to drop. I thought maybe the animals were using
it up a little more quickly, hoping that it was just a quality, highly
bio-available product. So, I began dosing a bit more. I have been testing
every morning, at the same time and the calcium is steadily dropping at
about 20 ppm a day. I am now down to about 340 ppm and am adding more and
more every day. Yesterday, I added 1.5 times the dose and this morning, I
added twice the recommended dose, which should raise the calcium about 56
ppm.

When I add the calcium, my pH immediate begins to drop, which seems to be an
indicator that the calcium is "being recognized" by the system, and the
buffering capacity in the tank. By the end of the day, my pH is back up to
normal, but when I test the next morning my calcium is down, and now, way
down. I also noticed a white line in my sump, which appears to be calcium,
but I add the calcium to my sump, so I figured that is why there was a
buildup there.

The bottle says that you may notice a drop in calcium when switching
products, and I am hoping that is all that is going on here, but I am not
sure I am comfortable just leaving it at that.

Any thoughts or suggestions anyone???

TIA,
Shane C.
