Derek,
You were right. Alk was high. I should have known. I get to dependent on my
pH readings, and dont follow the steps I should. Now, heres the thing. After
I do a couple of huge water changes over the weekend and sort of "reset" the
system, what should my approach to re starting the alk/calcium thing be?
Should I let the system settle for a week or so, should I begin testing and
adding right away? Full doses do you think? I guess I need to be doing alk
and calcium tests every day. That sucks, and it is expensive, so I was
hoping to avoid it, but it looks like that is going to be the only way for
me to keep tabs on it properly.

By the way, the do not recommend adding the alk and calcium together, but I
dont do that anyways. I add my calcium in the morning in one large dose, and
drip the alk throughout the day.

Thanks,
Shane
