Hey Holly,

What sorts of maintenance are you referring to? If you are talking about
basic HTML/CSS updates, we've been alright handing that off to someone else.
For more intense maintenance like CMS customizations, upgrades, or other
endeavors that could take the whole site down, I prefer to keep those
in-house. If the client has a CMS in place, I'm all about having them
maintain their content, but I've found (depending on the client) you need to
be careful with how much rope you give them.

If you do hand it over to a webmaster, make sure it's someone you trust.
Multiple bad updates, especially to site frameworks and the like can start
to make things pretty buggy.

Subject: [Refresh Austin: 4171] site maintenance

Hi folks,

Do any of you have "webmasters" (that handle the ongoing maintenance)
that you recommend to clients after you deliver their site or do you
just let your client figure out how to do their own maintenance? Do any
of you maintain sites for your clients after you build their sites?

Thanks,
Holly
