Could also be that the files weren't encoded for *streaming* playback, so
IE is attempting to open the entire file. At 300MB, it's going to be
downloading a bit before video playback starts, as there wouldn't be any
streaming buffer available. By default I believe that IE will attempt to
play videos within the browser by default using either QuickTime or Windows
Media Player so if they eventually play, that might be a culprit.
