What the hell did de Camp really know about it anyway? Have you ever heard the click-speech of the Kalahari bushmen? If you're not used to it, it sounds quite strange and in fact non-human. To a stranger in a dark prison cell, would not an unfamiliar tongue of this sort--even a fantasy one--be described in unusual terms? It's a FANTASY story, not a social satire or commentary. To read it as anything other than a fast-paced adventure story is going overboard. --Mike
