If it hasn't been pointed out previously, a visit to the repeater-builder web site would be the second or third place to take a virtual trip into repeaters. The first 2 places would be equipment manufacturers web sites to gain some idea on the cost of new and another would be with a tower maintenance company who would be hired to get you the antenna site. Having visited the first 2 you will have an idea of the capital required to begin your adventure, the making of a repeater is not as easy as picking fresh fruit at the local market, when you can be more specific with troubleshooting help needed there is a good host of help here to bring you out of the stumbling blocks and remind you that the majority of the trouble with a repeater is either the tower site can't hear or is too close to another one like yours and you will be sitting inside of innermod alley - or just another 2-3 hundred hours needed to build that unique bandpass-reject filter to help the cavity style used by everyone. In some cases they go up and stay on the air without much extra tuning, these were thought out slowly after many hours of research which is where you are beginning.
