My reply was likewise based on the information at hand and the near impossibility of finding 5-tone decoders. But even given that, it seems like a lot of overkill to use an "exotic" format.
I'm certainly not opposed to experimenting and learning, but the original post didn't really give us a hint of the entire picture. And I'm certainly not against using 5-tone. Heck, stack two together and go for ten tones.
