what i found exteriorly is that i have the 2 12 ga female pins for
power and the rest are 16-18 ga , for what ever they serve , now after
inspecting the PA i knoticed the driver are there for 5 watts, however
the final has been removed , probably factory ,and a metal strip has
beein place in their , im going to say its a good guess that this setup
could be made a 40 watt radio and it had all the provisions for it , but i
like the idea its a 5 watt , its going to be a pair of maxar 80's
a battery and a basic 9 controller and a phelps dodge 50 watt max
duplexer , and a workman uvs 300 dual band hi gain antenna on a 10 ft
pole for the " portable " repeater , setup .... its not much on
hardware or looks , but i want to expeaiment and tweak the crap out of it
to make it seem like a several thousand dollar setup , , we have the
advantage of decent hill tops , and a 4x4 jeep to get us there , now
mind u in pa the highest hill is 2400 ft above sea level , and guys
install repeater on 200 ft towers and drive out 100 watts uhf to reach
maybe 50 miles with commercial stuff , i want to see how my semi
homebrew stuff compairs with them .....
