Our counties' communications van does have one, but I haven't seen it in 
use. It does seem kinda cheaply made, but one big thing I see is that 
it's designed to be used with handhelds. With the connecting cables 
running so close to the antenna, there's bound to be some RF get into 
it. I would want to at least put external antennas on any radios used 
with it.
Also someone needs to be with it monitoring to shut it down 'just in 
case'. There's no provision for remote control that I saw.
I'm sure it's got some good uses, but it has a number of limitations.
