I have a 100W MICOR Base station on 52.525 (and one on 29.600, but it was
originally a 27.350 MHz business band base station, so it required no
modifications). The 6M one was originally on 47 MHz, so it required the
receiver and exciter modifications to make it tune up that high, as I've
had to do with all MICOR, MITREK and some MASTR II radios that were
originally in the 42-50 MHz range. I removed a turn off of each coil that
wouldn't tune properly, then it tuned properly and worked just fine. No one
has ever come up with parts value changes to optimize the PA deck, so I
left it alone and took what I could get out of it (about 90 watts).

Very good Kev. I kind of figured as much. I'll just do the conversion
instead of fooling around with it. Anyone have any luck reusing low-band
(42-50) base antennas on 6? If so, what brand/model? I have access to a few
but I don't want to waste time with them if they cant be used. Thanks.

Have had two friends that have done the conversions. They were unable to
find any short cuts. I think Mastr II radios may be a little less
complicated to move up. Good luck and 73,
