It might load up with a good SWR, but will it radiate?  I know the
discussion is about base antennae, but when I was on 6M FM, I tried  using
Antenna Specialists, DB Products, and Larsen base-loads for 42-50, and
each's performance was dismal when compared to a quarter wave whip.  As I
recall, even an LM-150 cut for two-meters worked better than the the 42-50
base loads.  If it was easy enough to modify the coil, I'd try do that and
keep a longer radiator.
