Since the freq. from 42-50 is a tad longer, I don't see
why not shorten the Radiating element, after all you want it fr 50-54 Mhz.
anyway going back to the Antenna formula of simple division

Freq. in Mhz.
this is for the HF Antennas but it may work the 6 meter band for a 1/2 wave
antenna but for anything in a base loaded coil this will not apply here just
open clamp and shrink it check your SWR and you are all done.
we did in the red cross comm. made 1/4 wave ground planes for 47.420 and 6
M. all you did was change the length a tad.
