One local guy took a RS weather RX that does
the SAME decoding (discontinued within the last 3
months, you might find one on the shelf, call around
to all your local stores and ask for a #12-251)
and replaced the Alert led with an optoisolator
that drives a digital input on the repeater controller.
Later on he bypassed the RX section and drove
the decoder's audio input with the audio from a
better RX (in his case a Micor). The high range
Moto RXs (160-174MHz) are pretty useless for ham
radio but work just fine on 162.55....
