Leon, I have a WX-1000 weather radio/controller that I will install at one of my 2m repeaters in the near future. This unit has more bells and whistles than I need, and is extremely flexible. Best of all, it does not need a separate controller. It is fully programmable with a PC.
One thing to consider: The WX-1000, like many other weather radios, does not have a very tight front end. I had to install a simple preselector in front of the WX-1000 to keep the 100 watt 2m repeater from desensitizing it. Whatever weather receiver you choose, please consider only those that have SAME (Specific Area Message Encoding) capability, so that you only broadcast the information that directly affects your coverage area. 73, Eric Lemmon WB6FLY Leon Ingerick wrote: > Hello to the Group.. > > Was wondering if anyone has a NOAA weather radio at > their repeater site that activates an announcement on > the repeater and plays the weather warning or test > message?? > > I am thinking of doing the same thing and just want to > know what everyone else is using for equipment such as > what kind of repeater controller and what kind of > weather receiver? > > I am using a CAT-200B controller and will need to get > a weather radio.. > > Thanks, > > Leon-N2HLT > > > > > __________________________________ > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo!
