Not the best mobile radio to make a repeater, but they

You wrote simple and easy. So that connection might be
a simple vox circuit from the receiver speaker audio
to the transmit mic input.

Only if speaker or low level audio is available on the
mic plug of the subject radio. Don't know if the 805
supplies rx audio to the mic plug without a mod.

Band-pass, band-reject like the Motorhead (motorola)
t-1500 series are good, but you can derate the repeater
performance with other less optimal duplexer types.

Sure if it had a proper match and the coax doesn't leak
to much.
