How did those older users get the idea that their Regency HR2's would be the last purchase they'd have to make as hams? Are they still grumbling about the FCC outlawing spark-gap?
I'd love to run my repeater using FM, but all the guys with the Heathkit lunchboxes would stop paying dues, yada yada. I'm beginning to think electrolytic caps drying out is a gift-in-disguise for repeater operators. Perhaps we've created some unintended expectations through poor public policy choices. Maybe we need $40 government coupons good toward TS-32s.
