Dan,

I recommend converting a high-band GE or Motorola. My club recently
replaced Hamtronics gear with a converted GE Mastr II after
experiencing considerable exciter microphonics and receiver desense.
Hamtronics gear probably works fine in a clean and quiet environment,
but at our shared mountaintop site, the Mastr II performs much
better... almost a night and day difference. I'm also impressed with
the audio quality.
