Finally - another Mac fan surfaces! :-) I have tried using DOSBox on our WinXP, however have had ZERO luck on the serial port recognition. Fromw hat I heard, the emulator will not recognize serial ports. Is that why you have resorted to the USB dongle? I cant remember if DOS ever recognized USB accessories. THats news to me!

It works great for programming those radios that need old, slow PCs for the software. I use it on my MacBook dual booting into Windows 7 and using an IO Gear USB serial dongle on COM1.
