Name usually tells something about the purpose of the object, so this
channel was most likely intended for writing error messages so they are not
mess with normal program output. Information messages are normal program output
as well, so do not see much reason to write it to stderr. I wonder how to
distinguish normal spark output from error reporting then? As usual "expected
at this point" makes things harder to fix.
