Yes, but that Driver is included in Red Hat (and probably other Linux distributions). It works fine out of the box on any of the versions I mentioned (specifically those updates because that was when support for the SAS drives was introduced, which are necessary for the G5 revision) > what I am not sure is about this driver: does it work with RHEL5 with > hardware such as > I have ? or maybe it will work only in RHEL 5.1 beta ? from where > should I get this > cciss driver ? See above. > Another thing is: I saw a couple of time talks about Integrated > Lights-Out (iLO) virtual-cdrom; what is this ? when installing from > the dvd drive in the HP machine - am I using it ? as I said, I am a > newbie in this ; sorry for my ignorance. No. If you configure iLO (which means putting a network cable into the iLO port (it's marked on the back) and configuring the network settings) you can browse to it with a web browser. If you have an iLO Advanced License (purchased from HP) you can use that Web interface to simulate a CD-Rom drive using either the drive on your local PC, or an ISO image file. iLO is designed for datacentres like ours so we can *virtually* stick a disk in the drive without having to walk 50 yards to the datacentre itself - nice but not totally necessary. -- Sam _______________________________________________ rhelv5-list mailing list [email protected] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rhelv5-list
