You've got a brand-new G5 server, IMO you're best off running what HP
supports. Even if you don't have to call HP for support, you will have
issues with the kernel revision if you try to install the PSP or many of
the packages separately. I'm not a fan of the PSP myself because both
the 7.7 and the 7.8 release had issues (like overwriting stock kernel
drivers with non-functional ones), but it is the easiest way to get the
iLO drivers/System Management Homepage, etc, etc. and as a new user you
prolly want to investigate what HP offers for Linux. I tend to avoid
the NIC and HBA drivers (unless some other HP hardware [SAN] requires
it) but the RAID utilities and the iLO/system management bits are good
to install.

If you've got the spare cycles to play with the beta it might be worth
trying, but if this is to end up as a production server know that it's
likely to be some months before HP support catches completely up with
what will be U1.
