Hi everyone,
I just got a Dell Optiplex 760 and RHEL5.2 doesn't support the network
card or the video card.
NIC: Intel Corporation 82567LM-3 Gigabit
Video card: ATI Technologies Inc Mobilitiy Radeon HD 3470
Has anyone else made RHEL5 work on this hardware?
For the NIC, you can download and install the latest
e1000e-0.5.8.2.tar.gz driver directly from the Intel site, compile it
for EL5.2 and use it. I've done this before and it works well....not
for this specific NIC...but it would be the same.
For the Video card....you can try getting the drivers from ATI. I use
nVidia and use their drivers. I would think ATI is the same.
Thanks, but how do I add the driver to my kickstart setup so I can
kickstart from the network?
Making a driver disk image would be preferable to tweaking the
installer's initrd.
I tried looking for the kernel-boot package, but couldn't find it. Where
can I et the installer kernel so I can compile the driver?
Do you use PXE boot/kickstart ?
initrd.img of 5.2 pxe does contain driver for e1000 ( e1000e.ko and
e1000.ko ).
