I've seen examples where if you connect the computer to a 100Mbit switch instead of a gigabit switch I could do a PXE kickstart installation. After installation do a manual compilation of the e1000 driver and the machine works on the gigabit switch again. Or you could do an installation from CD (don't upgrade), build the e1000 driver, and replace the e1000.ko file in the initrd.img file used for PXE boot.
