Still, I think the gen consensus is, don't bother doing this.. :)
But it would be fun trying. For a while anyway.
It happens that I have just installed Centos 5.3 or so. The only install
media I had available at the time were Ubbuntu 10.3, Debian 5.something
and CentOS 5.3 all on optical media, no servers and no Internet.
I though I'd have a play with virtualisation, my previous efforts on
Linux have been so dismal my preferred platform for the moment is Windows.
So, Centos got the guernsey. It transpires it's 32-bit, and it's
basically a throw-way system, so if I get sufficiently bored I might try it.
btw Virtualisation was a complete, absolute fizzer. I want to do it sans
X, so I used SDL. Centos 5.3 doesn't support KVM, so Xen was the only
choice.
I constructed a meaningful virt-install command and managed to install
Debian, but they keyboard mapping was very strange, with left ALT
recording "y" and much other strange behaviour. And no way to close the
guest peacefully. I tried CentOS too, using PXE booting. I didn't try
very hard, the key mappings defeated me, and I had to reach for the
power button once more.
