Don't want to get mr Geert angry continuing this off-topic too long,
but i have to say i think your idea is great.
Ha ha! Don't call me Mister, Mr Andrés.
It's indeed a good idea, but I think it only is useful in unit-test
like situations where you test short interactions. When you have
larger scenarios that are tested, I'm not sure that it's all that
practical. Also, as you say, some database might not support it.
Didn't think in it
before... But, we are using MySQL MyISAM tables here... so, no
rollback available :(
By the way, in a post from 2003 i believe, Geert said something like
"MySQL SELECT speed is a myth. Go and use a serious database like
PostgreSQL". Are you still claiming this today Geert?
I see indeed no reason to choose MySQL. Imho they made profound
mistakes in most of the areas that I got in contact with, from their
query syntax, to their transport layer, to the JDBC driver. I doubt
indeed that the query speed is that much faster than PostgreSQL.
Anyway, we've been using PostgreSQL in very busy sites for years and
the select speed only became a problem with very large relational
joins and such. Since MySQL is not really relational (well 5 is I
heard), you don't have that problem there of course.
