EAC is the best ripping program on PC, xACT is said to be the best on Mac (I myself have PC).
Yes, your compressed files are losslessly compressed - if they were 100% of the size on CD they wouldn't be compressed. They will be uncompressed to play exactly the same audio data, if they are ripped correctly. If you save your files in a lossless format not natively supported by your Transporter/SB it has to be decompressed on the server, then either transferred as wav or recompressed to a supported format (like FLAC). If you run wired you should go for wav, with wireless your bandwidth may be a problem. But to encode a wav to FLAC is many times more computing-intensive than decoding it, so if you in the future want to have your music with SlimServer running on a NAS (so your computer can be turned off) this might be a bad solution. The processor in the NAS might not be up to it. -- tommypeters SB3-->Meridian G68-->NuForce Ref8-->Bc Acoustique ACT A3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tommypeters's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6528 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27846 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
