I used Apple lossless for some time and then started to use FLAC,
ending up with about 70% in ALAC and 30% FLAC. I did a number of
comparisons and could detect no difference whatsoever. I decided to
convert everything to FLAC , but it wasn't because I felt it sounded
better. You may want to try comparing some of your favourite tunes in
both formats and see what you think. You really need to test this on
your system with your ears. I don't think you will hear anything, but
it will put your mind at ease. Then choose the one you like. itunes is
probably more convenient, but EAC is also very simple once you set it
up. You can always convert to another format later on with db poweramp
or something similar. For reference, I'm using Tact room correction and
biamping B&W N802 speakers with Tact digital amps.
