yes you shouldn't be resampling 16 bit music to 24 bit. it makes it a lot larger and will either have no impact or will slightly decrease the sound quality. some people claim they can enhance the quality of 16 bit music by moving to 24 bit and adding sound effect tweaks, but it's unlikely. let you dac handle the 16bit signal in its original state.
