Normal CD is 16/44.1. Any ripper should rip to this; there's no point
considering anything else - you can't add information that is not
there.

(Caveat: some CDs have HDCD information. There was a thread recently
on this; it may be possible to rip 20-bit info from these, but it all
looked very complicated.)

DVD-As are tricky to rip, as there are several audio streams on there:
5.1 surround, 16/44.1, 24/96 and possibly more. DVD Audio Extractor
may work, but I have not tried it. I do have the WinDVD hack (search
bittorrent and similar P2P sites; you're looking for MLP DVD rippers,
mainly), and it works, although is a pain.

Since my music is mostly classical, I'd like an SACD ripper, as nothing
for me is released on DVD-A. Sadly the only SACD rippers are hugely
expensive hacked players - not really within my budget!
