This whole RAID thing is giving me the shivers...it was just about a year ago when a 30 cent HD power cable failure orphaned one of my software based RAID Drives....I can still hear my wife when i told her my RAID crashed...."thats nice dear....now get back my 5 years of family vacation pictures" One year and $1200 later i have direct buried CAT5E cable between mine and the neighbors house. Slimserver in my basement and buffalo TerraStation NAS at my neighbors, backups done nightly, with deletions and other sync's done on a monthly basis. Now I'm protected unless a huge powersurge, Astroid, Civil unrest or tornado....Oh Oh here come those shivers again!
