#1: I don't know anything about iTunes, I would call support to see if there are any known issues with your network setup.
#2: The CPU in the transporter is not a general use CPU. It is an embedded CPU that only has enough power to do exactly what it is doing, play the music as instructed by SqueezeCenter. This is an intentional design that allows the Transporter/Squeezebox/etc to be much more flexible in terms of what it can do. #3: If you're ripping from CDs, storing in 48khz is likely ruining the audio quality because CDs are NOT 48khz. This means that iTunes is having to interpolate 44khz to 48khz after ripping. #4: No idea, never seen the "360S" For the server side it doesn't matter much what you do. I find that it helps to use a computer that is on all the time, and isn't moved around like a laptop. Especially if you are using storage that you disconnect from the computer from time to time. This can make Squeezecenter's scanner remove files from it's database and then you have to re-scan.
