Hi and welcome Just a couple of observations, You may or may not have found it by now, but there is a special 'Audiophile' forum here for just people as yourself who have high-end kit and want to get absolutely the most out of using it with SlimDevices's products.
iTunes is not universally regarded as a good CD-ripper around here. I'm not a Mac expert, but if you're not too far through your CD ripping project then you might want to consider some more specialist alternatives. In case it's of interest, EAC is a highly-regarded Windows ripping application that lets you rip to more 'open source' audiophile formats such as FLAC. As regards your questions 1) Pass, never used SqueezeCenter with iTunes. 2) SqueezeCentre is the 'brains' of the outfit. Think of the Transporter as a bit like a hi-fi quality external wireless soundcard; it doesn't have a computer of its own of the calibre required to run the server-side software. 3) Almost all CDs and (I think) all MP3s are produced to a 16bit / 44.1kHz standard, known as 'red-book audio' or PCM audio. If you really are resampling all of your music to 48 kHz then (a) you are definitely not adding any extra detail, since such detail doesn't exist in the original signal and (b) since many people believe that such unnecessary transformations may introduce noise into a signal (a risk not really compatible with your specialist, 'purist' hi-fi equipment) I imagine most people here would advise you to stick with the 44.1 kHz which is native to the original CDs. However as always 'Your mileage may vary', as the saying goes! 4) Pass. I have no 360S and no AKM. I have a student loan instead! Finally, I would definitely consider swapping your MacBook for a dedicated, always-on 'music server' which can do all CD ripping, maintain all the storage and run Squeeze-centre, and which can be kept permanently somewhere out of your living-room. Then either control the Transporter from the IR remote control or think about getting one of the very cool Squeezebox Controllers, with their lovely colour screens and easy interfaces.
