I am new to the Transporter and have questions... (after the facts) A) I have an audiophile quality system (Mark Levinson/Aerial 10Ts) and have just introduced a Transporter as my main AES balanced digital source to my 360S D/A converter. B) I have everything working using a Maxtor 1.5TB USB connected to my Airport Extreme USB port and running SqueezeCenter on my MacBook-Pro laptop C) I am using iTunes to rip the music into .aif at 48KHz and 16 bits
1) I am often losing the iTunes music library on the Transporter and have to do a clear all and rescan to get things going again... Why is SqueezeCenter losing the iTunes folder and reverting back to the defaulted iTunes folder on my MacBook? I removed all music content on the MacBook and have iTunes pointing to the LAN connected Maxtor drive linked through the USB port on the Airport Extreme. 2) Why do I need the MacBook-Pro running SqueezeCenter other than for the initial setup? Seems to me that the micro-computer in the Transporter (ARM ?) could handle that task. 3) Has anyone compared ripping .aif to 48KHz versus 44KHz? >From my checking when feeding a Mark Levinson 360S, the 48KHz sounds better. 4) Anyone have opinions on how the 360S (BB 1704's) compare to the AKM Magic DAC in the Transporter? I am in process of buying a Drobo with 2T storage to put my music on but still need to figure out how to stream it through SqueezeCenter. Should I continue to always use my MacBook-Pro, use my Windows XP machine or buy a dedicated MacMini to the chore??? Any comments would be appreciated as I am very Green to this new concept.
