>Set a compilation= tag on some albums. It's not a frig if you add a compilation tag (standard practice for iTunes and some other apps), and not needed for SC if you have album artist tags representing the name of an artist that you want the album to be listed under.
The only side-effect is if you want to use AlbumArtist="Various Artists", then you need to make a single setting change in SC to list compilation albums as something other than "Various Artists", because you won't be treating them as compilations. >Set different tags on wma and mp3 files (band on one, album artist on the >other) That's not a frig either. If you want to use band to mean Album Artist for mp3 tags, then so be it. WMA has its own Album Artist tag. If you don't want to write different tags for each format, you could write an Album Artist tag to mp3 files, and SC will use it. You'd still have to write to Band tag for other apps though. If you were to use Mp3Tag for tagging, when you write to the item it calls "BAND", it will write to TPE2 (Band) for mp3, and WM/AlbumArtist for WMA files. So you don't need to remember what tags to write depending on what you are editing. >accept that track artists are treated differently by sc in wma and mp3 files. I don't see a frig there either. How are they treated differently? _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
