I don't know what you mean by primary artists. I have several albums that say "Various Artist" on the spine and so I've put that as the album artist as that's how I choose to have them catalogued. Every track on these albums usually has a different artist so they've been set as the artist on each track. Occasionally there is a compiler or DJ who is the album artist - "Coldcut", "John Peel" etc. They are the album artist but are not an artist associated with any track. WMP just takes my word for whatever I put as album artist. If I tag one as "Various Arrrrtists" it would appear seperately because WMP is stupid - but I very rarely do that because I am not too stupid. WMP just does what I say. So I do _no_ frigging for WMP. I do plenty for SC though - in this way I get my albums to appear (just about) as I want.
