getting back to the original point in all seriousness...

when you say:

i have to laugh, b/c the "extra, unnecessary" thing is the VA detection
logic.

removing it makes SC simpler, not more complex.  and when i say
"removing" i just mean making it possible to turn it off.  using it,
makes what SC does more complex, less simple, esp if its going to give
users funky inaccurate results, as it CAN do, and also be buggy, which
it is.

i mean honestly, whats "simpler?"

a pgm that uses an extra logic function, or one that doesn't?

seems obvious enough to me.
