I have just accomplished this today and I can say that it will only be
for those tracks/albums that I really want the 5.1 capability as there
are numerous steps and plenty of time involved.

Those discs that have stereo tracks are ones that I will definitely
utilize, though anything over 24bit/48KHz is going to be transcoded by
SqueezeCenter. I would rather do that conversion and save the files on
disk in 24bit/48KHz so they use less space and I have no plans for a
Transporter.
