It works very well for any music for ewhich a composer and a performer
are important. (For example, classical music, broadway shows and
standards.) important. I found it to be much easier to configure for
such music than Foobar.

Here is a view I use for browsing different genres of music.

You can use any tag or calculated field in the browser panes in the
upper part of the window.

It also has a secure ripper and great tag editing.

yes.

It is trivial to do this with browser panes. You can also accomplish
what you want by sorting on more than one field. (Note the numbers
1,2,34 on column heaqdings for the file list in the view schemes
screenshots.) MJ/MC also provides a powerful search facility. You
could define a view scheme or a smart playlist to do what you want.

3. sort the albums according to those tags and the YEAR and ALBUM tags

Great multi-field sort capability.

I don't know about that.

As far as I know, MC has never messed up any of my tags.

I won't comment on all the abilities you would like. View the J. River
forums. You can download MJ for free and try it or download a 30 trial
of MC. I have MP3tag but have had no need for it for 2+ years.
