I have an old iPod 3G 30GB. It's from 2003.
I don't use iTunes at all to put music on my iPod, but Floola, a simple
program that runs from the iPod's harddsik directly. So I can up and
download music to my iPod everywhere.

But I see a long "dirty" artist list with all artists from
complilations.

So I am testing the alternative firmware for the iPod, it's called
Rockbox.
Rockbox has a slightly different approach for browsing Artists. It
simply has 2 entries in the browse menu. You can "browse by artist" or
"browse by album artist". That's quite easy because in most cases you
can browse by album artist and in cases you i.e. want to look for a
guest artist you take the artist menu. Not so bad and quite self
explaining compared to SC.
Unfortunately multiple artists are ignored, you only see the first
one.

Now I have to find out what's the best compromise to tag the music for
full featured use with SC and simple use for the iPod.
