>0: Force as non-compilation. Each Artist gets a separate item in the >artist list. (Bug) > Not a bug. Think of compilation=0 as forcing no grouping - every different artist will have its own album. i.e. if there are 10 tracks, each with a different "featuring" artist, then compilation=0 forces each to be a separate album. Having an album artist then also groups the songs to be displayed as a single album by that album artist.
Compilation=0 should never be necessary. >It is all not that easy but I have to sort this out before tagging all >albums of this kind. It is quite straight forward: Three cases: 1 - normal album All songs on the album are by the same artist. Don't set a compilation tag Typically don't need to set an album artist. 2 - compilation album Songs on the album are by different artists. Don't need to set a compilation tag (but you can set COMPILATION=1 if you like). Don't need to set an album artist tag (defaults to Various Artists, but you can set an album artist tag to override this if you desire - if you do, then ensure you do have a COMPILATION=1 tag). 3 - guest artist album Some songs on an album have guest artists. Don't set a compilation tag. Set an album artist tag to be the main artist that you want the album to be listed under. As you have chosen to use TPE2 to represent BAND, you also have the option of setting an artist name in Band. "List album by Band" setting may then use this tag, if present to display the band instead of artist in the browse albums list. Eg. you could have ARTIST=Jimmy Page, ARTIST=Robert Plant, BAND=Page & Plant. Such an album would appear under Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and Page & Plant. If you Browse Albums, it would be reported as "album by Page & Plant". _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
